They predict resumed flights to the mainland 'sometime soon'.

Details of the new corporate identity are to be unveiled in the second half of this year, with the first fresh paint jobs likely to be seen in August, company spokesman Steve Yang said.

Mr Yang refused to confirm that the flag would be eliminated from the tails, but said the new livery would be part of a multimillion dollar corporate identity change.

It is to include new staff uniforms, new interior designs in all classes of domestic and international flights, and new colours for company vehicles.

'That [removing the flag from aircraft], I cannot [yet] say is 100 per cent firm,' Mr Yang said.

'The new livery is being studied by a special team and designed by an international company in Britain.
