THE Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair generated $2.47 billion worth of business this year, up 46 per cent from last year because of a wider range of buyers, particularly from the emerging markets.
On-the-spot orders increased 31 per cent to $939 million.
A further $1.53 billion worth of orders were under negotiation - a 56 per cent jump from last year.
The number of overseas buyers rose 34 per cent on last year's figure.
Owen Chi, assistant executive director of the Trade Development Council, which organised the fair, said the results were a clear indication of the fair's growing international status.
'The diversification of the world markets coupled with a recovery of major economies will mean more business opportunities for Hong Kong manufacturers,' he said.
