LEGISLATOR Anna Wu Hung-yuk yesterday wrote to Governor Chris Patten to seek a promise the Government would not withdraw its Sex Discrimination Bill if it was unhappy with legislators' amendments.

Ms Wu said the administration's sudden withdrawal of the Employment (Amendment) Bill last month had produced concern that 'the administration may not tolerate serious divergence from its own legislative proposals'.
She is intending to move a motion tomorrow condemning the Government's withdrawal of the Employment Bill.
She also said that if most legislators favoured expanding the jurisdiction of the equal opportunities commission, the Government should do so.
