HERE'S some lip-wetting news for serious wine buffs. The Petrus restaurant atop the Island Shangri-La Hotel in Pacific Place is offering a bottle of 1906 Chateau Petrus for a mere $128,000. The French restaurant is acknowledged as providing the best wine list in Asia and is also host to the territory's only Michelin three-star chef, Gerard Cavuscens, and female sommelier, Selina Kwok.

Certain well-known patrons regularly sip wine at the venue from bottles costing $17,000 each, but the 1906 is something else, says maitre d', Eric Desgouttes.

'I don't think there can be many people in the world who have tried it. If you drink it, there will be many who will be very jealous. It is the Rolls Royce of wines. It should be drunk rather than treated as a collector's item for investment,' said the Frenchman.

'Chateau Petrus wines in general are mainly made from the Merlot grapevine. This makes them softer and very fruity. This one is exceptional. ' Keeping Posted will be keeping an eye on who will be the lucky person to acquire this exotic vintage and what occasion they will be celebrating.
