O-TA takes bold moves in sports equipment innovation
Discovery Reports

A commitment to innovation has steered O-TA Precision Industry from strength to strength. Founded in 1988, with a mission to be Taiwan's most creative sports equipment manufacturer, O-TA is a prolific original design and equipment manufacturer to the golf industry. Diversifying into cycling and hockey equipment, O-TA made its boldest move yet in 2009 with the launch of its very own bicycle brand Volando.
"O-TA is dedicated to product innovation and hi-tech research," says Lee Kung-wen, O-TA chairman. "We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards of business practice and customer service. This is the O-TA way."
The O-TA way spells success for the company. Adopting Toyota's lean production system early on, O-TA ensures customer satisfaction with guaranteed deliveries. Sustained investments in research and development have empowered the company to explore new technologies, materials, structures, cosmetics and shapes.
The result is a high-calibre client roster that includes Nike, Ping, Callaway, Cobra, Titleist, Bridgestone, Mizuno, Honma, Yonex and Mitsubishi. O-TA is the one-stop shop of these prestigious brands for golf heads, graphite shafts, golf clubs and assemblies. Its production ranges from titanium and steel alloys to composites, with ISO 9001 quality-certified mass production facilities in Shenzhen.
Leveraging advanced composite capacities, O-TA trotted out the Volando range of high-end bicycles to broad acclaim. Featuring the work of Taiwanese artists and aboriginal totems in a lightweight frame, Volando promotes O-TA's concept of luxury freedom: "fly with free will".
O-TA was named among Taiwan's top 100 brands and won the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Innovation Enterprise Award last year.
