A SPECIALLY-formed committee is to review the future operations of Hong Kong insurance companies Wing On Life Assurance and National Mutual Asia (NMA) - both of which are now owned by French insurance company AXA.
The committee will consist of four representatives from the National Mutual Group, including group chief executive Geoff Tomlinson and NMA chief executive Terry Smith, as well as three representatives from AXA.
The committee will decide how the two Hong Kong-based companies fit into AXA's expansion plans in Asia.
The AXA Group entered the Hong Kong insurance market in September last year, purchasing Wing On Life Assurance for US$110 million (HK$850.3 million).
Last Tuesday, AXA said it was buying a 40 per cent stake in National Mutual Life, which owns NMA, for A$1.1 billion (HK$6.46 billion).
The deal leaves the French insurance giant holding two licences to sell insurance in Hong Kong in two overlapping companies.
