A MAN yesterday claimed police officers had intimidated him in an attempt to persuade him not to pursue a complaint over violence used during an apparent case of mistaken identity.

Luk Wai-hung, 22, said he would give officials details tomorrow of how Kowloon West officers told him to 'shut up' about an earlier assault complaint.

The Complaints Against Police Office has confirmed it is investigating a complaint by Mr Luk that he was beaten after a raid on his Tsuen Wan home last month.

Mr Luk said: 'They told me not to pursue the complaint. They said they would reward me by not charging me with keeping a knife at home.

'If not, they would take my file to the Legal Department and bring me back to the police station twice a month for more beating.' He said his home was raided late last year and then last month by police who were looking for a triad suspect with a record of fighting, unlawful detention and extortion in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Mr Luk, who works as a cook in a Sheung Wan restaurant and is now on $500 police bail, said he was beaten for five hours in the police station last month.
