THE Legislative Council will be asked for another $1.1 billion to develop the West Kowloon reclamation area, linked to Chek Lap Kok transport projects.
A Government submission to the Finance Committee yesterday said it was the 'minimum necessary' to support the West Harbour Crossing and the West Kowloon Expressway and cope with traffic for the airport railway's Kowloon station.
The request will be considered by Legco's public works sub-committee meeting next Wednesday.
The reclamation will provide the landfall and toll plaza area for the Western Harbour Crossing and the transport corridor for the West Kowloon Expressway and airport railway.
Building 5.2 kilometres of roads, associated drainage and landscaping will cost $580 million, with work due to start in April, according to the submission.
