ONE in three primary school teachers is opposed to a new curriculum to be implemented in 1996.
More than 6,000 of the territory's 18,000 primary teachers have signed a petition against the Target Oriented Curriculum.

The curriculum, originating from the Education Commission Report No 4, aims to give pupils specific targets to reach at different stages to make learning lively and effective.

Legislator Tang Siu-tong, who organised the campaign, said: 'Many teachers . . . said they had no confidence in the new curriculum and were worried they would not know how to teach pupils.
