Li Kwok-keung, 35, was arrested after police seized betting slips worth more than $330,000 from his flat in Shau Kei Wan on Saturday.
Li pleaded guilty to bookmaking with unemployed man Wong Lap-man, 19.
Eastern Court Magistrate Hugh Sinclair heard Li earned $5,000 a month as a club bouncer. He gave $4,000 to his parents, who were living with him. He also had a live-in girlfriend and wanted money to marry this year.
Since Li could not afford a financial punishment, Mr Sinclair jailed him for four months.
