I REFER to the letter headlined, 'Is patient privacy protected?', which appeared in the South China Morning Post, on February 11. The reader expressed his worries about whether it would be easy for his new employer to gain access to his patient's records in Castle Peak Hospital. A patient's record is a confidential document and the patient's right to privacy is protected at all times. Patients' records are kept strictly confidential in this hospital and there are stringent criteria governing the release of information on patients. Your reader can be reassured that a patient's record will certainly not be released to his/her employer without the patient's written consent. For any further queries on the issue, the reader is welcome to contact our Patient Relations Officer, Miss Daisy Wong, at telephone No 2456 6234. Dr H.S.
