I REFER to the story by Darren Goodsir headlined, 'Public losing faith in ICAC' (South China Morning Post, February 15).

The first paragraph, which your reporter has revealed to me was based on his own calculations, said, 'The number of people who believe the ICAC has abused its powers increased last year by a massive 74 per cent.' This I feel, is a gross misinterpretation of the survey's findings.

In fact, the respective findings were 18 per cent in 1993 and 31.4 per cent in 1994.

The increase, therefore, is 13.4 percentage points.

We are certainly not complacent over this unwelcome finding but it is vastly different from your portrayal of the situation.
