Herman Moeliana, founder and director

A passion for the chemicals business is in Herman Moeliana's blood. Born into a family engaged in the chemical industry, Moeliana gained extensive knowledge from working for his father's chemical shop in his hometown in Indonesia. This experience became his base for establishing Inter Aneka Lestari Kimia (IALK).

IALK founder and director Moeliana is no stranger to innovations. He developed his own waterproofing chemical formula in 1983 to plug leaks in his house. The success of the product in the market encouraged Moeliana to establish a full-scale commercial production plant two years later.

IALK supplies customised chemical products to different industries under three business divisions.

Under the building-related chemicals division, IALK produces waterproofing coating and cement modifiers and other related products. The other business division is the masterbatch and polymer compound division. It manufactures additives for the plastic converting industries and various types of ready-to-use polymer compound products.

A renowned name in plastic masterbatch and compound, IALK seeks partnerships with companies looking to venture into this segment.

The Enviplast division is the latest addition to IALK's business portfolio. Collaborating with overseas scientists, IALK developed the bioplastic polymer from tapioca and corn starch and vegetable oil derivatives. IALK manufactures Enviplast as the more economical alternative to the existing fully biodegradable polymers in the international market.

Enviplast bags biodegrade in nature in three to six months, reducing environmental pollutants such as plastic bags. IALK sees immense growth potential for Enviplast as people become more proactive about protecting the environment. The company also aims to service the international market with Enviplast and seeks distributors that share IALK's vision of cultivating a greener world.

"If we are successful in positioning Enviplast bags to replace traditional plastic bags, the planet benefits. IALK is committed to doing something good for mankind and the planet," Moeliana says.
