A CHOPPER-WIELDING thug who hacked a defenceless street-sleeper to death in a frenzied attack was jailed for life yesterday.

  Lau Sui-fu, 30, went berserk after a row with So Wing-fat, 41, over heroin and money early on December 30, 1993.

  He returned with two friends and launched a savage attack on So.

  Horrified street-sleepers rushed to help their friend as he collapsed in a pool of blood. But So died shortly afterwards.

  Mr Justice Leong sentenced Lau to life after a High Court jury convicted him of murder. His co-accused, Cheung Chin-ting, 34, was cleared of murder.

  Both had denied the charges.
