Police said the officers had set up an ambush in Hillwood Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, and grabbed two men as they left a luxury car.
Sources said two guns and several hand grenades were believed to have been seized.
The car was believed to have been stolen and fitted with false licence plates.
Following the arrests, officers mounted a series of raids in Kowloon and the New Territories and arrested four other men.
