VOLGA-DNEPR Airlines, Russia's largest cargo airline, is expected to strengthen its presence in China through the expansion scheduled service and charter cargo operations, Xinhua (the new China News Agency) said. 'Our operating experience in China enables us to set up a base for expanding co-operation with the country,' the agency quoted Vassily Shorin, general representative of the China office, as saying. He said that officials in charge of Russia's transport were in China hoping to enlarge the country's transport co-operation. This, he added, should lead to stronger China-Russia trade ties. Since September, when the Civil Aviation Administration of China confirmed Volga-Dnepr's accreditation, the company has completed 22 flights, transporting 640 tonnes of goods including consumer goods and electronic and textile products. Operations began in December with a route from Moscow to Tianjin.
