THE Inchcape Group has appointed Paul Cheng as a non-executive director.

  Mr Cheng joined Inchcape in 1987 and, for the past three years, has been chairman of Inchcape Pacific Limited, the group's regional subsidiary covering Greater China (Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Macau) and the Philippines.

   He will continue as chairman with specific responsibility for the strategic direction of the group's businesses in Greater China.

  Nelson Chan has been appointed executive director of Inchcape Pacific.

   Mr Chan, who joined Inchcape in 1984 and has worked for the group in Hong Kong, Australia and Britain, will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of Inchcape Pacific, working closely with each of the firm's business streams within Greater China and the Philippines. CENTURY City International Holdings has appointed Lawrence Lau Siu-keung as a director. Mr Lau will be responsible for the overall accounting and financial functions of the group.

  THE Hong Kong Federation of Insurers has appointed Louisa Fong as executive director.

  Miss Fong was born in Hong Kong and, since graduating from the University of Hong Kong in 1984, has gained wide experience in the fields of public relations and communications, particularly in the banking and finance sector.

  NEW World Insurance Services Limited has appointed Nancy Tsing as assistant group chief executive of the corporate head office.

  She will be in charge of the finance and corporate services sectors of the operation. She will also act as adviser to the firm on a wide range of insurance issues.

  Ricky So has been appointed chief executive for the Hong Kong and China operations. He will spearhead the company's marketing effort in these areas and be responsible for the necessary liaison within the Asian insurance network.

  Michael Wong has been appointed president of the Toronto and Vancouver offices.

  In addition to his responsibility for business development in north America, he will specialise in energy production and the hospitality field.

  Michael Pei, who works for New World Development Company Limited, has been appointed a director.

 ALEX Tong has joined Paribas Asset Management in Hong Kong as associate director within the team responsible for the management of Asian equities.

  He will be directly in charge of investments in the northern Asian equity markets.

  He was the Sunday Morning Post Fund Manager of the Year in 1993.

 THE Australian Tourist Commission has appointed Glenn Myatt as consumer marketing manager, Asia, based in the Hong Kong regional office.

  He was previously the commission's strategic marketing research manager with global responsibility.

  In his new role, he will be in charge of formulating and implementing consumer marketing strategies for the Asian markets. His immediate task will be to spearhead the development for a new advertising campaign to be launched in the region later this year.

  The commission has also appointed Yvonne Lam Yin-lai as trade development officer for northeast Asia.

 MANULIFE Financial has appointed Michelle Li as director of human resources planning, staffing and development for the Hong Kong and Greater China division.

  Prior to taking up her position, she was the area human resources manager for the consumer product manufacturer, Asia Pacific, a Fortune 500 organisation.

 NEIL Jones, a partner with Healey and Baker surveyors, has been seconded to Marlin Land Hong Kong to strengthen its international investment division.

  In his new position as associate director of international investments, he will provide consultancy advice to Southeast Asian investors on the major European and North American property markets, in addition to offering specific investment products to clients of Marlin Land.

 SUM Tat Piling And Engineering Ltd has appointed Alan Liu as managing director.

  He has been with the firm since 1990 and will be responsible for overseeing the entire operation of the construction business of the group.

  Robert Ng, currently the financial controller of the group, has also been appointed director of both Sum Tat Holdings Ltd and Sum Tat China Investment Ltd.

 THE Royal Garden, Hong Kong, has promoted Keven Chan to executive assistant manager.

  He will oversee all matters involved in sales and marketing, front Office, housekeeping and public relations.

 REGAL Kowloon Hotel has appointed Stephen Lai as front office manager, Raguin Bertrand as chef de cuisine of Le Restaurant de France, Kevin Cheung as the Chinese executive chef, Jennie Tsui as banquet sales manager and Nelson Leung as assistant food and beverage manager.
