DRAGONS will have a Sunday off this weekend after receiving a bye in the CCC Knockout Cup cricket competition, writes Alvin Sallay.

The bye means that the Dragons will automatically move into the semi-finals of the tournament. They will have to wait until Sunday evening to know who their opponents will be.

'It is great to get a Sunday off. I can't believe that we are in the semis,' said Dragons player/manager Bharat Gohel yesterday.

Dragons, who squeezed out a 14-run victory over Police last Sunday in the first round, were given another boost when the quarter-final draw was later done at the Hong Kong Cricket Club.

Playing their first season at the top level in the local cricket scene, the Dragons, comprising Chinese and locally-born cricketers, will certainly be happy with the way things have worked out so far.
