Transvestites deny attacking tourist with bedpan

A PAIR of transvestites grabbed a tourist off the street, attacked him with a bedpan and robbed him, a court was told yesterday.

Bradley Harris, 24, was captured by two 'attractive women' who frogmarched him to a guesthouse, the District Court was told.

But Judge Chua adjourned the case for the day when Mr Harris fled the court in tears after defence counsel Jonathan Midgley said the 'victim' had hired the transvestites to give him oral sex.

Mr Midgley said Mr Harris had argued over extra payment for watching the two 'ladies' having sex with each other.

Mr Midgely said the Australian man had oral sex and agreed to pay $3,000 for the two accused to perform a live sex show.

After the show, Mr Harris said he did not have enough money so the three of them went to his hotel to collect the balance.

Both sides agreed the drama led them to the lobby of the Sheraton Hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui, where Mr Harris suddenly pushed the two accused and screamed for help. The concierge, a security guard and Mr Harris' wife joined the fracas before the police waded in and arrested the 'women'.

John Wong Lap-tat, 23, and Yip Ka-man, 24, denied false imprisonment and robbery. Yip has had a sex change operation and is now female.

Yesterday morning, Mr Harris testified that on October 9, 1993 he had left his wife sleeping in their hotel and wandered into a Tsim Sha Tsui bar. There he met a British man who introduced him to two tall, striking Asian 'women'.

Mr Harris said he left the bar and was filled with fear when an Asian man fell in step behind them, and the long-haired 'woman' suddenly clutched his hand. The other ''woman' was also there.

The Melbourne businessman said he was forced into a guesthouse room, where a man appeared to be waiting for him. The two defendants and the man from the road followed him into the room and shoved him on to a bed.

He said the two men and the transvestites attacked him, punching him in the stomach and legs, and hitting him with a bedpan.

Mr Harris said the transvestites took $3,000 from his wallet.

But he said they were not satisfied and demanded more money.

Mr Harris agreed to go to his hotel for more cash and set out for the Sheraton with a transvestite on each arm.

Mr Midgley said he began shouting when the trio reached the lobby because he did not want his wife to find him bickering with the two defendants. The trial continues.
