EA Research has announced that all three of its graphics accelerator cards will begin shipping with software to accelerate Adobe Photoshop 3.0 functions. The EAsycolor cards are designed to accept software upgrades into embedded processors, helping to maintain performance as application software changes. The Adobe Photoshop 3.0 Expert Module is the first such software upgrade for the boards with others to follow. With the Photoshop 3.0 upgrade, common functions including CMYK-to-RGB conversion and printing functions are accelerated by the cards. In the same way Photoshop for the Mac is a fat binary application with both 68000 and PowerPC code in one application, the Photoshop 3.0 Expert Module is also a fat binary module. Users who own the EAsyColor 24/1360 can upgrade their cards to support Adobe Photoshop 3.0 by downloading the upgrade file from floppy diskettes distributed by PacRim Technologies in Hong Kong. The upgrade is free to all registered owners.
