SHIP orders received by Japan's NKK Corp in the 1994 financial year ending this month are expected to total 13 vessels aggregating 780,000 gross tonnes (gt) worth 53 billion yen (about HK$4.53 billion).
Ship repairs are expected to add another six billion yen, according to company sources.
The company expects to receive ship orders worth 48 billion yen and repair orders worth three billion yen in the year starting next month.
The company's newbuilding order backlog as of the end of January stood at 13 vessels, aggregating 720,000 gt.
New vessels built by NKK during the year are expected to number nine, totalling 570,000 gt on a completion basis, with eight vessels of 440,000 gt estimated for the next business year.
NKK's hopes for winning VLCC orders have failed to materialise.
