THE Sisters of Sharon, Hong Kong's answer to Bananarama and the Bangles, although they would probably hate the comparison, are launching their second CD on March 31 with a live concert at Judgement A.D. in the basement of the Bank of America Tower.

The all-girl band, who have played just about every venue in the territory, including the Hong Kong Coliseum, released their first album, called Blush, in April last year to highly critical acclaim.

The new compilation, called Paper Planes and Daisy Chains, promises to be just as energetic and original.

It features 12 tracks, some of which have never been played in public before.

The band, which formed in November 1990, is made up of Chris Bowers on lead guitar and vocals, Kim Falkingham on rhythm guitar and vocals, Jill Eason on bass guitar and Ah Wai on drums.

Their music has been described variously as a potpourri of rock with elements of pop and funk and gratuitous grunge.

Last year, they were voted 'Best Local Band of 1994' by the readers of HK Magazine, the popular free listings paper.
