LAND reclamation work has begun on the Shantou International Container Terminals (SICT) facility in the Shantou Special Economic Zone in southern Guangdong province.

SICT is a joint venture between Hutchison Delta Ports (HDP), a subsidiary of the Hutchison Whampoa group, and the Shantou Port Authority.

It was set up in April last year to build and operate two container berths in Zhu Chi port capable of accommodating 25,000 deadweight tonne ships.
