TWO blackmailers beat a waiter with portable phones, then stripped him naked and photographed him, a court heard yesterday.

  Chui On-hung, 24, quit his job at the Leung Lee Restaurant, Mongkok, in 1991.

  He still owed boss Ng Sai-him $6,000 he had been given as a salary in advance, the District Court heard.

  Ng, 40, and Wong Sai-ming, 31, pleaded not guilty to false imprisonment, assault and blackmail. Ng also denied claiming to be a member of a triad society and Wong denied one count of robbery.

   On February 3 last year, Mr Chui was leaving the Kai Kee Mahjong School in Yau Ma Tei when he found himself face-to-face with interior decorator Wong and another man, who called himself 'Sho Bing'.

  They berated him for not repaying the money he owed Ng, the court was told.

  They went through his pockets and wallet, taking $1,320, prosecutor Walter Lau told the court.

  It is alleged the pair then dragged Mr Chui into a nearby car. Wong then drove the vehicle to Kowloon City, where Ng was waiting for them.

  He got into the car and the three men sped off towards Lok Fu with their unwilling passenger, Mr Lau said. They parked the car outside Tin Fook Restaurant and Mr Chui was hauled inside.

  The trio then began striking him with their fists and mobile phones, the court was told.

  Ng demanded Mr Chui return his money, and warned the former waiter he belonged to the Sun Yee On triad society, Mr Lau said.

  The frightened man was forced to sign an IOU for $50,000, the court heard.

  Mr Chui was also taken to an empty section of the restaurant and forced to strip naked so his attackers could photograph him with a Polaroid camera, the prosecutor said. Ng told the captive he would publicise the nude photos if he was not paid.

  The men showed the photos to a waitress who served them in the restaurant, the court was told. It is alleged she noticed injuries to the victim's face.

    After spending about three hours imprisoned in the restaurant, Mr Chui was escorted back to his home so he could collect money to repay his loan.

   But he escaped on the way and went to the police.
