THOSE who enjoy scanning the list of High Court Actions published in the Post every day may have noticed a strangely-named but litigious company called Zenuna Ltd.
Excepting credit card firms and other personal finance companies, it has been one of the most persistent litigators in the territory, issuing 51 writs in less than 12 months.
Who is Zenuna? It is the holding company used by Wharf (Holdings) to hold its Times Square project in Causeway Bay, and it seems to be keeping its solicitors busy.
Of the 51 writs, 31 are seeking to repossess properties from defaulting tenants, 19 are seeking cash from tenants, and one is simply requesting rent arrears be paid.
The office towers of the development don't appear to be much trouble - in fact, there is a waiting list to get in. The 51 writs are almost all for shops and restaurants, and once duplicate actions and alleged repeated non-payers like China Max are taken out, it means Zenuna has taken action against about a fifth of its 230 tenants, which seems pretty remarkable for a new development.
If every shopping centre had the same suing rate the courts would be busy indeed.
