ONLY people without a heart would have smiled upon the sad faces which the territory's young cricket team, the Dragons, sported after they had been on the receiving end of a thorough drubbing by Templars in the CCC Cup final at the Kowloon Cricket Club yesterday.
Templars won the one-sided final by 10 wickets.
The outcome was expected, although perhaps not by such a huge margin.
The forlorn looks of the Dragons squad was evidence of a side who knew they had been outplayed by a clinical display of bowling and batting from the KCC's senior team - who regained the Knockout Cup after missing out last season.
On paper, the Templars owe their easy win to the bowling of pacemen Erle Pereira and Rahul Sharma.
But the hidden truth was that the Templars were playing a side still innocent to the intricacies of the game and whose naivety was their main undoing.
Why else would a side not realise that in a limited overs game, it is a cardinal sin not to bat out the allotted overs.
