WEST Indies have left out inconsistent middle order batsman Keith Arthurton from the 13-man squad for the opening Test against Australia starting at the Kensington Oval on March 31.
As previously announced by the selectors, Richie Richardson, out of international cricket for several months suffering from fatigue, returns as captain.
Also included in the squad are leg-spinner Rajindra Dhanraj, batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul and bowler Kenneth Benjamin, none of whom played in the one-day series which West Indies won 4-1.
Attacking opening bat Phil Simmons was predictably not chosen for the opening Test.
Squad: Richie Richardson (captain), Courtney Walsh, Sherwin Campbell, Stuart Williams, Brian Lara, Carl Hooper, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Jimmy Adams, Kenneth Benjamin, Junior Murray, Winston Benjamin, Curtly Ambrose, Rajindra Dhanraj
