FROM the Shenzhen Stock Exchange new headquarters in the fast-emerging Futian district, computer chief turned deputy chief executive Dai Wenhua commands his active business schedule as efficiently as his computer.
In an interview punctuated by a steady stream of telephone calls and visits by business associates, the energetic and mathematical wizard spoke about his mission in the exchange as skilfully and carefully as he checked the time for his next meeting.
'My mission is on computer technology and the secondary market,' said the man who has steered the exchange's computer division for 18 months until December last year.
With a tonne of pressure on his back, Mr Dai, 35, is handling the exchange's most difficult front-line job with probably the best formula - the one he designed for himself.
'I'm doing it as I'm learning,' Mr Dai said.
His promotion has ignited renewed hopes for the Shenzhen Stock Exchange to revitalise its tarnished image among foreign investors as its ability to attract foreign capital is increasingly being questioned.
