COMPUTER networking company Bay Networks has defied industry sceptics and strengthened after forming from the merger of SynOptics Communications and Wellfleet Communications, Andrew Ludwick, president and chief executive officer, said.
'There was a lot of scepticism, especially on Wall Street, as technology mergers are tough. But all that has changed now. We have managed to build on the strengths of the two networking leaders, to emerge bigger and better,' Mr Ludwick said.
The new company's revenue had surpassed US$1 billion and offered much more than the sum of its parts, he said.
The merger was formally completed on October 20 last year.
Mr Ludwick said SynOptics brought to Bay Networks its intelligent hub and switching capabilities and Wellfleet its sophisticated multi-protocol routing and wide-area networking (WAN) technology.
Mr Ludwick was in Hong Kong last week as part of a world tour to explain the synergy of the merger. While here, he unveiled two of Bay Networks' next generation of solutions.
He said one was the most intelligent hub platform for enterprise wiring closets and the other was the complete solution for integrated LAN/WAN enterprise management.
