DHL Worldwide Express and China Customs have established the first fully integrated electronic data interchange (EDI) system for customs clearance in Shanghai.

EDI software designed by the Department of Technology in Shanghai is used by other international carriers to aid customs clearance.

But DHL claims to be the first to take EDI a step further by connecting it to the DHL regional system.

The system will facilitate the exchange of shipment information from its origin to DHL in Shanghai, where a connection will link it with Shanghai customs.
