NEW TERRITORIES champions continued their winning streak by taking both the boys' and girls' Jing Ying volleyball titles at the Boundary Street Indoor Games Hall recently. In a fiercely-contested match, Immaculate Heart of Mary College captured the girls' title after a five-set victory over Belilios Public School. After a slow start, Immaculate Heart of Mary took charge, heading for an easy victory after winning the first two sets 15-8 and 15-9. Taking advantage of their opponents' complacency, Belilios hit back and drew level at 2-2 by winning the next two sets 15-7 and 15-8. In the decisive set, the NT champions regained their composure and stepped up their attack. With powerful smashes and control of the net, the NT girls scored a 15-10 victory in just 11 minutes to take the crown. The NT representatives were unstoppable having taken the Jing Ying handball and basketball championships in both the boys' and girls' sections. PLK Tang Yuk Tien College did not let their supporters down. They fended off the challenge of Pui Ching Middle School to win the boys' title in straight sets. The match was much closer than the scoreline indicated. It took more than 11/4 hours for Tang Yuk Tien to end the brave resistance of Pui Ching. The NT boys gained the upper hand at the crucial stage and scored a straight sets 15-12, 15-12, 15-11 victory to lift the title. The NT champions look set to make a clean sweep of the Jing Ying titles as Ju Ching Chu Secondary School, Kwai Chung, are strongly tipped to beat Island School in the football competition to be held on Sunday at Happy Valley Sports Ground.
