THE Yuen Long Junior Police Call (JPC) proved to be the strongest team among the 19 districts at the JPC Mini-Olympics held at the Kwai Chung Sports Ground recently. More than 1,000 JPC members took part in a variety of competitions. Contestants were divided into three sections: Division A (for those aged 16 and above); Division B (between 13 and 15 years) and Division C (nine to 13 years). After a day of keen competition, Yuen Long JPC grabbed the overall championship with 10 gold, 12 silver and seven bronze medals. A total of six records were broken this year, including the girls' 60 metres (Division C) and boys' 100 and 200 metres (Division B). The Mongkok District JPCs won the best cheering team award. Another highlight was the tug-of-war, which was won by the Regional JPC staff, who defeated favourites Police Public Relations Branch (the team had won the championship for the past three years). The mini-Olympics is an annual event organised to promote sportsmanship and enhance communication among JPC members.
