Country: Thailand Company: Loxley Public Co Recommendation: Hold Broker: SG Warburg LOXLEY is a diversified trading company concentrating on hi-tech, high-growth areas which listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in January last year.
Full-year results were better than expected. With the company's earnings per share becoming more significant and the price-earnings ratio declining, investors are expected to focus more on the company's price-earnings ratio relative to the prospective earnings growth rate. On this basis the shares compare well with other Thai blue chips.
Country: India Company: Goodlass Nerolac Paints Recommendation: Buy Brokerage: Smith New Court THE company, India's market leader in industrial paints, is benefiting from a structural shift in consumption. Revival of the car and consumer durables sector supports forecast 40 per cent annual net profit growth for the next two years. The firm has also increased its capacity by 71 per cent and is well positioned to take advantage of rising demand.
Country: Malaysia Company: OYL Industries Berhad Recommendation: Buy Brokerage: Smith New Court FIRST-half turnover for the air-conditioning maker soared 631 per cent year on year while pre-tax profit surged 138 per cent. After stripping out the consolidation of AMI's contribution in the first half, OYL's profits were above expectations.
Given the company's long-term view and ability to deliver earnings as promised, the brokerage is confident AMI's sales growth in Asia will boost 1995 financial year earnings.
Country: Singapore Company: Wing Tai Recommendation: Buy Brokerage: Salomon Brothers THIS property and textiles company reported a 24 per cent surge in pre-tax profit to S$221 million (HK$1.22 billion) for the half-year to December, largely due to higher associate and investment income. The results did not include investment contributions from two major development projects launched during the reported period.
