THE Government of the Philippines has expressed its anger to Singapore over the execution of Flor Contemplacion, who was convicted of murdering another maid and a Singaporean boy. We still don't really know if she did it. Philippine embassy individuals visited Ms Contemplacion while she was in custody, but during these visits, at no time did she claim that she was innocent. Why not? The Philippine Government is to blame. It should give real help when overseas workers need it and not once it is too late. After she was charged with the double murders, the administration in Manila should have acted. An autopsy on the body of the murdered maid, should have been conducted in the Philippines, as soon as possible, to determine who had really done the killings. Only now has an investigation and autopsy taken place. Its findings differ from those findings in Singapore, but it's now too late.

EDRA MANGLATAN North Point I REFER to the article by Karin Bishop headlined, 'Anger of the maids' (Post, March 30).

We should not blame our government in the Philippines, because we are working here. It was our decision to come here. Also, the Hong Kong Government has nothing to do with the case of Flor Contemplacion. If we Filipinos want to fight for our rights, then we should do it in the Philippines.

In Hong Kong there are good and bad employers. We must respect the government here and be content with our position.
