A LANGUAGE laboratory and a computer room will be funded by Mobil Oil Hong Kong with a US$30,000 (about $232,500) grant to Wuzhou Vocational School, one of China's leading vocational schools. The donation is made available through the Mobil Education Fund, designed to assist educational institutions develop scientific research, upgrade facilities and train personnel. Eight donations amounting to US$500,000 were made from the fund in 1994, which was established last year as part of Mobil's 100th anniversary celebration in China. Denny Chan, a regional manager for Mobil presented a cheque to the Mayor of Wuzhou, Ni Long-sheng, at a recent ceremony. 'It is very important for students to have a healthy learning environment with adequate, modern facilities available. We are grateful for Mobil's care and commitment towards developing education in China,' Mr Ni said. Mr Chan said: 'It is Mobil's corporate policy to invest in the communities in which we do business, as demonstrated by various high-level cultural and sports events we have sponsored during the past decade. We are delighted to support the Wuzhou schools, which boast respectable academic track records.'
