Kidnapping syndicate broken up A MACAU syndicate which allegedly hired mainlanders as kidnappers was broken up when nine people, including a police officer, were arrested over the weekend. Six home-made pistols, steel pellets, a kilogram of gunpowder and other weapons were seized from a car at Sintra Hotel on Sunday. Several of those arrested were mainlanders who said a man called Ah Lam hired them to come to Macau and kidnap his former boss. An off-duty policeman and four illegal immigrants - three women and a man - were in the car when police intercepted it. The illegal immigrants had arrived a few hours before. Four men were arrested from a speedboat between Taipa and Coloane Island.
