A MAN tricked into stripping by a prostitute he tried to rob was sentenced to two years' jail yesterday. Judge Jackson in the District Court said Ho Kwok-chuen had misjudged his victim's resourcefulness and guile. The court had heard prostitute Lam Shiu-ngar was taking a bath when, wrapped only in a towel, she answered the doorbell on February 9, 1994. A man she assumed to be a customer stood in the hallway and when she let him in, he took out a leather strap and wrapped it round her neck. Ms Lam said she told him she did not have money but offered sex instead. She persuaded him to strip and then headed for the door. She shouted for help, attracting the caretaker, but Ho had fled, leaving his wallet, underpants, blazer, and the leather strap. The wallet contained his identity card and Ho, 33, was later arrested. During the trial Ho changed his plea to guilty to attempted robbery. In mitigation, defence solicitor Thomas Evans said Ho was driven by a sexual impulse to visit the woman and did not intend to harm her.
