WE refer to Mr Julian Jackson's letter (South China Morning Post, April 10), in which he said that Wild at Heart recently screened on Pearl, should have been shown uncut as it was in Britain. We hope viewers will appreciate that different places have different sets of rules and regulations governing the broadcast of programmes.
As a broadcaster, we must comply with programme standards laid down by the Government in areas such as sex, language and violence. Since movies are not made for television broadcasting, it is inevitable that a great many of them need to be edited in one way or another before they become suitable for broadcast on television in Hong Kong.
