Demonstrations housing rooftop building illegal structure

House call . . . illegal rooftop dwellers took their protest to Government House last night after talks with government officers broke down earlier in the day.

The 10 families from Kingland apartments in Mongkok have refused to move to a temporary housing area and wanted to hand in a petition to Governor Chris Patten. The other 29 families have either moved or are negotiating with the Government. The Director of Buildings, Helen Yu, said the rooftop-dwellers' representatives walked out after only a brief exchange.
