HOUSING Authority officials were left red-faced yesterday when a demonstration of their new leak-proof windows proved less than watertight.
A worker sprayed water on to the outside of the window at Tsz China Estate, Wong Tai Sin, as officials and the media watched from inside.
Minutes later, to the officials' embarrassment and the amusement of the reporters, water began to seep through the joints.
Poon Sing-chi, Senior Assistant Director of Housing (new development), said all the windows in the block had been tested many times and the authority had selected one at random for yesterday's demonstration.
'The situation [seeping] is not common . . . but sometimes one or two [problem] joints may be discovered during the tests,' he said.
Mr Poon said the constructor would be asked to fix the problem and re-check all other windows.
