IF YOU have not noticed yet, Hit Radio 997 has taken on a fresher and livelier 'look' for the spring with some new programming. Topping the channel's new line-up for April is an early morning, four-hour magazine-style news programme which also covers topical issues. The programme begins at six on weekdays, with Andy Chan waking us gently with an hour of soothing music before giving the news and analysing current affairs with the help of experts from universities and the media. 'Listeners are always at the receiver's end of news, with no way of telling truth from fiction. We want to give them something extra through expert analysis,' said assistant Chinese news director Clara Li Siu-mei. The Five Broadcast Kids , starting at noon, is two hours of all-young 'stuff' from the 'all-jeans' team of Ricky Fan, Desiree Lam, David Tse, Moon Yip and Andy Chan. Cheung Lai-kan returns to host her chatty two-hour evening programme. 'It's all Category I entertainment,' Cheung reassures viewers. Twilight Chung's Twilight Chung features the unusual and mysterious - from qigong to fung shui and hypnotism. Saturday's Developing the Mainland is a light-hearted look at things happening in China. It also offers travel tips to the unwary tourist in China.
