THREE Vietnamese families ordered back to detention camp yesterday launched a legal battle to remain free until they can take their case to the Privy Council.
Lawyers for the 13 boat people are to meet representatives from the Attorney-General's office this morning to set a date for a High Court hearing.
The families, freed in January following a landmark case, are challenging the Director of Immigration's decision to return them to a closed camp.
Their lawyers yesterday filed an application for leave to seek judicial review of the decision to re-detain them.
They were supposed to go back to Tai A Chau yesterday morning, but will remain at Pillar Point open camp pending the outcome of the review hearing.
Since their release, Phung Hoan, 59, Hong Dau Ching, in his 30s, and Tan Te Lam, 43, have all found jobs at the new airport construction site.
