AN exchange programme is in the pipeline to help companies re-use rubbish as raw material. Under the co-ordination of the Centre of Environmental Technology, companies should be able to exchange used materials among themselves rather than dumping them, said general manager Craig Branting. The centre is operated by the Private Sector Committee on the Environment, which is supported by 21 leading companies, including the South China Morning Post. 'The timber at construction sites is used only once and then goes to landfills. In fact, it can be made into various wood products,' Mr Branting said. The centre will be housed in a $50 million project in Kowloon Tong.
