Superstar Midori set to dazzle HK
THE brilliant young Japanese violinist Midori will be in Hong Kong next month to give a recital at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC).
The once prodigy and now superstar will be accompanied by pianist Robert McDonald. Her programme will include works by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert and Tschaikovsky.
Though small in size, Midori's stage presence is powerful and alluring. She has had audiences spellbound by her artistry and technique since she began her concert career at the age of 11.
Recently, the musician has added an important dimension to her public life through the activities of the Midori Foundation, set up in 1992 to promote inter-cultural communication through music.
Midori also gives special concerts for young audiences in schools, hospitals and institutions where children do not often have the opportunity for direct involvement with arts.
Midori performs on May 23 (Tuesday) at 8 pm at the HKCC Concert Hall. Tickets at $300, $240, $160 and $100 are available at all Urbtix outlets (half-price for students, senior and disabled citizens).
