THE scene: A school playground.
The chatter: 'Swap you two Faye Wongs for Police Launch Number Three and an armoured personnel carrier'.
The explanation: In one of the most striking developments in Force public relations since Police Report's Steve Evans grew that moustache, Asia's finest has moved into a promotional field normally occupied by pouting Canto Pop stars.
On sale around town are collector's cards (you know, those shiny prismatic things) featuring policemen on motorbikes, launches and in those oh-so-British Ford patrol cars. They come in packs of six, and proudly glint out from newsstands next to the likes of Leon and Andy.
By way of explanation, the back of each card carries a logo proudly declaring the 150th anniversary of the RHKP (even though it actually fell last year). Go suspects this canny marketing ploy may have something to do with the dramatic increase in the number of young women joining the Force.
