THE mother of two boys whose bodies were found in a suitcase will stay in a rehabilitation centre for several days to rest and think over her future. Chow Shuk-ying, 24, is believed to be exhausted and incapable of caring for her three-year-old son, Hei-tung. Her husband, Cheng Chi-chu, 25, is in critical condition in hospital after jumping from their fourth-floor flat three weeks ago. Chow faced theft charges but was released on $10,000 bail on her own recognisance on Thursday. She was released too late to attend the funeral of her sons, 18-month-old Hei-shun and one-month-old Hei-lok. She spent most of her first free day yesterday in the Aberdeen Rehabilitation Centre, going out in the afternoon accompanied by a social worker to see a doctor after complaining of feeling unwell. A Social Welfare Department spokesman said Chow had been granted emergency money from a trust fund for her daily expenditure. The department would later consider if she qualified for public assistance. 'We may later help her look for long-term housing. But before that we will let her stay at the centre as long as she likes,' he said.
