NEC has developed a full-colour Thin Film Transistor liquid crystal display which the company says could come to replace standard CRT displays.
The two screens offer 1280 x 1024 and 1024 x 768 resolutions with a viewing area similar to that found in traditional 15-inch monitors. The screens will support a CRT analog red-green-blue interface and are only 15.5 mm thick.
NEC has also announced what it calls the first 'plug and play' monitor to support Windows 95.
The new MultiSync X family includes an on-screen manager to control colour, image, size, position and screen geometry as well as support AccuColor technology.
