I COMMISERATE with Dr S.V.R. Rao (South China Morning Post, April 28), regarding his unpleasant experience with an unruly dog and agree that the authorities should step up their efforts to round up strays especially during the summer season when many people take to the countryside at the weekends.

Dr Rao and others may be interested to know that there exists a small ultrasonic device manufactured in the US which can be used to deter the approach of worrisome dogs.
