FORM Six student Chan Man-see clinched the overall title in the Urban Council's International Arts Carnival (IAC) 1995 Poster Design Competition after winning first prize in the secondary school section. 'I love jigsaw-puzzles, and my inspiration came from these jigsaw pieces when I sat down to conceptualise a design for the IAC poster,' Man-see, 17, said. 'By combining the jigsaw puzzles and culture-related graphics, I think I have successfully illustrated the multi-faceted programmes to be featured in the festival,' he added. The competition attracted 682 entries from primary and secondary school students. In the Primary School section, the first prize went to six-year-old Li Wei-xin of Chinese Methodist School (North Point); the second prize to Yip Lai-chu, 11, and third to Chung Ka-man, 10, both of Ho Fai Primary School. In the secondary section, the first prize went to Chan Man-see, 17, of Our Lady of Rosary College; second prize to Chan Ka-man, 16, of STFA Leung Pau Kui College, and third prize to Tung Ngar-wing, 17, of SKH Tang Shiu Kin Secondary School. The other 10 winners are: Chan Yee-ki, 11; Tung Wai-ting, 12; Lai Wing-fu, 11; Kwok Sin-lam, eight; Leung Wing-sze, 11; Lo Yi-lin, 18; Lam Chi-man, 17; Lee Ah-tat, 17; Lam Nga-yan, 17, and Yeung Ka-wai, 15. All winners will receive a plaque. In addition, the first three prize-winners will be awarded book vouchers worth $1,500, $1,200 and $800 respectively. The International Arts Carnival, an annual summer festival, will be held from July 14 to 30. Details of the carnival will be out next month. The award-winning designs, together with other selected entries, will be on display in the Hong Kong Cultural Centre foyer from July 15 to 30.
