I REFER to Mona Brown's letter headlined, 'Police should target more serious offenders' (South China Morning Post, May 9).
I also had the 'privilege' of receiving a few parking tickets for the 'felony' of parking my car for just over an hour in a cul-de-sac off Waterloo Road, Yau Ma Tei, over the last few Sundays.
The police are just following the laws of free enterprise in Hong Kong, and getting the maximum return for the minimum of effort. It is far easier to ticket a motorist who is parked down a side street, than chase and stop these motorcyclists and car drivers who think they are in a grand prix race, or to ticket the container truck drivers who paralyse Kwai Chung.
However, I can think of an easier way to earn income. Put up more parking meters in suitable streets, so that people like me can park and pay without risking fines.
